AATB Announces Guest Judges for the 2018 Communication and Education Awards
The AATB is pleased to announce the 2018 Guest Judges for the AATB Communication & Education Awards. The AATB Communication and Education Awards are designed to share ideas and best practices and reward innovation and creativity among AATB membership. The 2018 judges are professionals from around the country who represent a wide variety of professional interests.
Shirley Bergin, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Marketing Officer TEDMED (Stamford, CT)
Shirley Bergin is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of TEDMED. She leads all aspects of the TEDMED organization, from co-chairing the Editorial Advisory Board to guiding TEDMED's annual "Hive" program to building long-term relationships with industry and academic leaders, the venture community and startup organizations -and, when it comes to TEDMED's annual event she serves as its Executive Producer. Shirley is fiercely passionate about all things TEDMED and the opportunity for this community to help shape a healthier world. She is also an accomplished business leader with experience working with global brands including Johnson and Johnson, GE, Unilever, Kraft and Nestle and leading digital enterprises such as AOL, InterActiveCorp and Priceline.com. Shirley has developed and executed innovative business and marketing strategies across a variety of verticals for start-ups and established firms alike, successfully reinventing and introducing brands and building large online communities.
Jennifer Cramer, Speechwriter, Disney Parks & Resorts (Celebration, FL)
Jennifer Cramer has worked for Disney for more than 20 years as an executive speechwriter and communications leader. Her expertise includes executive and C-suite communication, internal communication and industry/stakeholder engagement. As a member of the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Public Affairs organization, she supports Disney's brand and vacation offerings throughout North America, EMEA and APAC. Prior to joining Disney, Jennifer spent several years in Community Relations for Orange County Public Schools, one of the nation's largest school districts. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from University of Florida.
Jessica Koth, Public Relations Manager National Funeral Directors Association (Brookfield, WI)
Jessica Koth has worked for the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) for more than ten years. In her current role, Jessica is responsible for managing the Association's public and external relations activities. Prior to joining NFDA, Jessica worked at a public relations agency where her clients included a variety of local, regional, and national organizations in the nonprofit, health care, hospitality, food and beverage, and special events sectors. Jessica graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She is a two-time past president of the Association of Marquette University Women (AMUW); she continues to support AMUW as a director emerita.
Mame Kwayie, Public Relations Manager American Academy of Periodontology (Chicago, IL)
Mame M. Kwayie is the public relations manager for the American Academy of Periodontology, an 8,000-member organization serving periodontists worldwide. In her role, she manages the award-winning Love The Gums You're With campaign, which is designed to educate the public on the value of periodontal health and the expertise of the periodontist. She also oversees the Academy's media relations efforts and provides editorial support for the award- winningPeriospectivesmagazine. Mame, a 2016 recipient of Association Forum's Forty Under 40 Award, previously worked as the Director of Communications for the San Antonio Board of Realtors and in marketing and communications for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. As a writer, Mame has been a contributor to such publications as Ebony Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, the Houston Chronicle, and The Root. She holds a Master of Arts in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Yewande A. Oladeinde, Social Science Research Analyst Center for Medicare Services (Baltimore, MD)
Yewande works as a Social Science Research Analyst for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Her areas of expertise centers around engaging underserved communities of patients in clinical research participation and biospecimen donation. Yewande was previously a post-doc research fellow at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Most recently, she worked as a contractor for the Food and Drug Administration on the patient-focused drug development program. Her research training has broadened her perspective on understanding patient- centered health-seeking behaviors from prevention to treatment. Yewande's past experience involved research on the childbearing decision-making process of women living with HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. Her research has been published in various academic journals. Outside of work, Yewande enjoys spending time with her family, and volunteering as a youth leader at her church.
Eric Porterfield, Communications Manager Social Good, Facebook (Menlo Park, CA)
ric Porterfield is currently the Social Good communications lead at Facebook, where he leads on external communications for Facebook's charitable giving, crisis response, health and mentorship and support products around the world. Previously, Eric was the senior communications director at the United Nations Foundation, the senior communications officer for international services at the American Red Cross, and worked for ABC News and the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House. Eric attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergrad and holds a master's degree in international affairs from Webster University in London, UK.
Jerry Wohletz, Executive Communications Manager American Dental Association (Chicago, IL)
Jerry is a communications sharpshooter whose first entrée into the field was on his family's Kansas farm, where his strategic communications approach helped grow a 6-tomato-plant operation into a thriving local agritourism business. Today, he works with clients to develop communication strategies that achieve their goals. He prepares speeches and coaches executives at the American Dental Association for 200 events each year, all over the globe. Jerry is a former college-level public speaking instructor, and spent several years working with an education nonprofit in Washington, D.C. He has a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas.
Winners of the Communication and Education Awards will be honored onstage and invited to present their projects at the #2018AATB Annual Meeting in Dallas, Oct 9-12, 2018.
Submissions for the 2018 Communication & Education Awards will open Monday,
April 2nd at 8:00 AM (ET) and close Friday, June 8th at 8:00 PM (ET).
