Dear AATB Members,
I hope your summer is going well and you are finding some time to relax and recharge your batteries. It’s been an exciting summer of change here at AATB. We recently announced the results of the recent AATB Council Officer elections, launched the CTBS Exam Question Writing Contest to assist us in our transition to an electronic exam format, and welcomed two new staff members to the AATB team. In addition, preparations are ramping up for several upcoming educational programs, including the 42nd AATB Annual Meeting, our third annual Emerging Leaders Program, as well as our first ever Quality Auditor Training Program.
Quality Auditor Training Program
We’re looking forward to welcoming a group of tissue banking professionals to our office next week for the first ever Quality Auditor Training Program, which is filled to capacity. If you weren’t able to register to attend the in-person workshop, but are interested in other quality auditor training opportunities, we are also offering an online training course which you can register for here.
It’s hard to believe, but our 42nd Annual Meeting is right around the corner. The AATB Program Committee is hard at work finalizing an incredible line-up of speakers and session topics. Two noteworthy presentations that I'm especially excited to hear are LifeLink Puerto Rico's talk about planning for Hurricane Maria and their post storm recovery efforts, as well as a session on setting up a birth tissue program, from A to Z. We'll be announcing more session and speaker details in the upcoming weeks, so stayed tuned for more information on the exciting topics we have planned.
We hope to see you in Dallas from October 9-12th for the opportunity to learn and grow as a professional, connect with friends and colleagues, and hear stories that reconnect you to the mission of tissue banking.
You can register for the meeting here. Early registration rates are available until August 10th.
Council Election Results
I’d like to thank everyone who voted in the Council officer elections in June. Your participation and engagement are an integral part of the association’s continued momentum and success. I’d also like to congratulate all of the new and returning officers. Your willingness to serve is greatly appreciated. And of course, I’d also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the outgoing officers for their dedication and contribution to the association. We couldn’t do what we do without your hard work and leadership.
If you missed the election results announcement, you can find a list of the incoming council officers in the article included in this issue.
We’re incredibly excited to welcome two new members to the AATB team. Valerie Cruz joins us as Accreditation Coordinator, and Julie Bly will be serving as the new Director of Member Engagement and Marketing. You can read more about Valerie and Julie here.
