Changes to Standards

The second revision to Standards for Tissue Banking, 15th edition (Standards), having been approved by the Board of Governors, is being released. See below for effective dates. 
 
Corrections to Standards
This second revision of the 15th edition of Standards includes corrections and clarifications of text. These changes represent content that was omitted or otherwise altered during the transition from the 14th to 15th editions and must be revised to ensure that requirements are complete and clear. AATB will continue to make such corrections from time to time and typically will release them when one or more changes may affect quality or compliance. The changes are shown in a red-lined version of Standards and described in the Corrections to Standards for Tissue Banking document.

This revision of Standards is effective as of August 11, 2025. Even though these changes are not meant to constitute revisions of requirements that had been expressed in the 14th edition, AATB will exercise enforcement discretion until October 31, 2025, to provide time for incorporation into establishments’ quality systems. Any change that is an expectation of a regulatory agency must be followed, whether or not it is the subject of enforcement discretion by AATB.

Clean and redlined copies of Standards containing said changes; the Corrections to Standards for Tissue Banking, 15th edition; and an updated Frequently Asked Questions Related to Standards for Tissue Banking are available to AATB accredited institutional members through the AATB Portal.
