Changes to Standards

The third revision to Standards for Tissue Banking, 15th edition (Standards), having been approved by the Board of Directors, is being released. This revision of Standards will become effective as of January 31, 2027. 
 
This third revision of the 15th edition of Standards includes multiple revisions that were the subject of a recent comment period among AATB Council members. The changes are shown in a redlined version of Standards and described in the Corrections to Standards for Tissue Banking document. A summary of the comments received is also being provided to promote clarity and transparency regarding the revisions.

Also in this revision, the changes to Standards associated with the specification of a temperature range to replace the term “ambient” have been incorporated into the text because they are becoming effective as of the same date. These changes had previously been the subject of an extended implementation period and were shown in recent publications in red boxes. The redlined version shows these changes. 

Clean and redlined copies of Standards containing said changes; the Corrections to Standards for Tissue Banking, 15th edition; and Council comment overview are available to AATB-accredited institutional members through the AATB Portal.
