Tuesday night, the House Appropriations Committee voted 34-28 to advance the Fiscal Year 2027 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill, as amended, to the full House of Representatives. 

AATB commends Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Rich McCormick, MD (R-GA) for writing to Acting FDA Commissioner Kyle Diamantas regarding the agency’s policy on screening human tissue donors for sepsis.

Skin substitute reimbursement has been a challenging issue for our industry, and it has remained one of AATB’s top advocacy priorities.

AATB recently submitted a comment letter to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the agency’s 2007 donor eligibility guidance, which determined that sepsis is a relevant communicable disease agent or disease (RCDAD).

The House Appropriations Committee has set deadlines for Members of Congress to submit appropriations requests.

Yesterday, AATB representatives and members met with lawmakers and congressional staff on Capitol Hill to advocate for key issues impacting the tissue banking community.

On Wednesday, December 24, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the withdrawal of the final Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) for Skin Substitute Grafts/Cellular and Tissue-Based Products for the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) and Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs).
